Start the installer in the menue - configurationscripts - Installer

Enter the rootpassword = root



Press OK ...

Information about the circumstances, the needed partitions ...



Press OK ...

Information about gparted (the partitioner) ...



Press OK ...

Information about needed or created partitions, remember these
partitions and their devices carefully!!! You will need this
information during the installation process!!!



Press OK ...

gparted starts its work, choose your installation device (here /dev/sda)
and resize, delete, create needed or wished partitions.

Be careful with these actions, there is no way back, once pressed the
button "Apply all operations" and the confirmation!!!



I choose now /dev/sda8 for usage as my rootpartition ...



I unmount it ...



And I format it to ext3 ...



I press the button "Apply all operations" ...



I apply by pressing "Apply" ... be sure what you are doing!!!



/dev/sda8 (my rootpartition for the installed linux) will be formatted
to ext3 ...



Press "Close" to continue after the completion of all operations ...



/dev/sda8 is shown as ext3!

I use it as my rootpartition and insert it in this field ...



...



Press OK to confirm ...

In the next field I do not write anything, I leave it as it is ...




... because I have no swapppartition and press OK ...



... the confirmation, that no swap will be used.

Now the same procedure for /home ... I do not use a homepartition ...





No homepartition will be used! Correct!

Now I can change the rootpassword and create a new user ...



I write in the fields ...



rootpassword: use a single word without spaces, you can use numbers and _ or -, repeat it ...
username: use a single word without spaces, no upper cases, you can use numbers or _ or -
password for the user: use a single word without spaces, you can use numbers and _ or -
groups: if empty, the groups audio,video,cdrom,plugdev,floppy will be added by default

PRESS ONCE "ACTIVATE CHANGES"!!!! BEFORE YOU PRESS "QUIT"!!!!

To make the changes known to the system! You can control it in the control window in the
background. There must be an output like this ...



Then it is ok and you can press "Quit" to continue ...



Here you can choose autologin of the new user ... press OK ...

A last confirmation and the system will be copied to the installation device ...



Press OK to start the copyprocess ...



After about 15 minutes continue with the bootloader ...



Remember this information, you will need it for GRUB!!!
/dev/sda is the installation device
/dev/sda8 is the rootpartition

Press OK ...

GRUB will start now ...



Choose "expert" and press OK ...

Now choose "Begin" ...



... and press OK to continue ...

Choose 640x480x32k ...



... and press OK to continue ...

Now choose if you want to install GRUB to MBR or to the rootpartition! I use MBR, no problems
so far ...



... and press OK ...

Insert the information from above about the installation device, here /dev/sda ...



... and press OK ...

Insert the information about the rootpartition from above, here /dev/sda8 ...



... and press OK ...

Now choose your linuxinstallation ...



... and press OK ...

Here are all linuxpartitions listed ... my rootpartition /dev/sda8 too ...



... choose the partitions to be handled by GRUB ... here /dev/sda8 and nothing else



... and press OK to continue ...

Now insert the rootpartition with the correct device, here /dev/sda8 or leave it empty ...



... and press OK ...

Here insert the kernel vmlinuz or leave it empty (/boot/vmlinuz is correct) ...



... and press OK ...

Here insert the kernel options or leave it empty (no problem the installer will autodetect it!) ...



... and press OK ...

Now add other operation systems, e. g. existing Windows ...



... and press OK ...

Here I have Windows on /dev/sda1 and WindowsD on /dev/sda5 ...



... I choose /dev/sda1 only (= WindowsC) ...



... and press OK ...

I choose a name ...



... and press OK ...

Now I install GRUB, everything is OK, you can choose any other option too, so long until you are
sure to have everything checked ...



... and press OK to install GRUB!



Success! GRUB was installed to /dev/sda my installation device!

Now choose, if you installed to an external device (USB or SD(HC)) ...



and press OK ...

A last information about external devices ...



... and the installation is finished!
